Conmigo vs Howbout: which shared calendar fits your friends?

Updated November 2026

Howbout is a phone app for friends, couples and families who want to see who's free and talk each plan through in its own group chat, on iPhone and Android. Conmigo is a social calendar for iPhone and the web that syncs both ways with Google, Outlook and Apple, lets you choose how much each person sees, and sends invites anyone can answer from a link, with no account or download.

Both want fewer "when are you free?" texts and more time together. Here's how they compare in November 2026.

Is Howbout free?

Yes. The core app is free on iPhone and Android. Howbout+ is an optional subscription that adds calendar themes, more than 30 colors, custom color categories, a week view widget, multi-add for shifts and classes, and scan-to-plan, which turns a screenshot or photo into events. Howbout says prices vary by country and platform. The US App Store lists it from $3.99 a month or $39.99 a year.

Is Conmigo free?

Yes. The iPhone app is free, with no paywall at all. On the website, 1 connected calendar account from Google, Outlook or Apple is free, with unlimited calendars inside it. Each extra account is a one-time $10. There's no subscription.

Can my friends RSVP without downloading the app?

With Conmigo, yes. Your friend opens the invite link and sees the cover, time, place, description and itinerary in their browser. They tap "Are you coming?" and type their name. Once they answer, they can comment and add photos too. Howbout has invite links, and they bring people into the app as friends. Its help pages don't say whether a guest can answer a plan without installing it.

Which app is better for seeing when friends are free?

Both do it, in different ways. Howbout is built around availability: open a group, see who's free, busy or maybe busy each day, and tap a day to make a plan. Conmigo starts from shared calendars. Each friend chooses how much you see, and Compare schedules makes the gaps stand out. Because Conmigo syncs two ways with Google, Outlook and Apple, it keeps up with the calendars people already use.

Does Howbout or Conmigo work on Android?

Howbout has an Android app. Conmigo doesn't, but its web app runs in any browser, on an Android phone or a computer.

When Howbout is the better choice

  • You or most of your friends use Android and want an app, not a browser tab.
  • Your group likes to talk plans through in a group chat, with polls to settle where and when.
  • Your friends are already on Howbout. A shared calendar works best where your people are.
  • You like a bucket list of someday plans and a feed of what your friends are up to.

Details about the other app come from its own website, help pages and app store listings, checked in November 2026.
